Background:
Augmented reality is a technology where computer display is integrated into real-world environments. This new technology blurs the line between what's real and what's computer-generated.

In this project we will build a cheap infrared camera based on the Sony PlayStation Eye and some IR lights sources or reflectors in order to track objects. Such objects may be fingers in 2D space or human head in 3D space. This opens the door for a broad range of fascinating augmented reality applications.

Definition:

The project involves both hardware (fitting the camera to our needs and connecting it to a PC) and image processing algorithms (finger/head tracking). This will be partly based on a previous project in SIPL for multi-touch table that has some similarity in its internals.
